Nasya is a procedure that is very effective in diseases related to the head region. The nose is considered an entrance for the head. Administration of medicines through nasal route is called Nasya.

Oil
Powder
Smoke
Liquid extract of herbs.
Procedure
Firstly the patient is given massage and fomentation. Then the medicine is administered through the nostrils one by one. While doing this procedure patient’s head is kept bent backward for about 45 degrees in the supine position.
After Nasya
The patient is asked to spat out the medicines that come into the throat. The patient is advised to give dhumapana (medicated smoke) just after Nasya.
