तत्रेदमाहारविधिविधानमरोगाणामातुराणां चापि केषाञ्चित् काले प्रकृत्यैव हिततमं भुञ्जानानां
भवति- उष्णं, स्निग्धं, मात्रावत्, जीर्णे वीर्याविरुद्धम्, इष्टे देशे, इष्टसर्वोपकरणं, नातिद्रुतं,
नातिविलम्बितम्, अजल्पन्, अहसन्, तन्मना भुञ्जीत, आत्मानमभिसमीक्ष्य सम्यक्||CH.VI.1

The Ahara Vidhi Vidhan (Dietetic Rules) Are as Followes: -

(1) Ushnam Asniyat (Consuming Warm Food)

  • Eat Warm and Freshly Cooked Food
  • It Enhances Tastes, Digestive Fire
  • Food Digest Very Quickly, Helps With Downward Movement of Vata

(2) Snigdham Asniyat (Unctous Food)

  • Unctous Food is Delicious
  • It is Increase Digestive Fire Which is Poor
  • Food is Digest Very Quickly, Helps Downward Movement of Vata, Increase Plumpness of the Body, Increase Strenghthens of Sense Organs, Brightness of the Complexion.

(3) Matravat Asniyat (Proper Quantity)

  • Eat in Proper Quantity
  • It Prevents Vitiation of Vata, Pitta, Kapha Dosha
  • Its Easily Passes From the Rectum, Relief From Distress in the Stomach
  • Digested Very Easily, Gives Longevity

When Food is Taken After Digested of Previous Food the Doshas Are in the Usual Locations, Digestive Fire is Increase, All the Srotas Are Transparent Open, Pure Belching, Downward Movement of Vata, Urine & Stool is Normal.

If Food is Taken Without Digested of Previous Food, Then It Vitiated All of the Three Doshas Immediately.

(5) Virya Avirudha Asniyat (Contradictory Food)

Food Items Possesing Contradictory Properties Should Be Avoided.intake of Such Food Items Generates Various Diseases Like Kustha, Visarpa, Impotency and Various Lifestyle Disorder.

(6) Isat Dese/isat Sarvopakaranam Asniyat (Meal Taken at Proper Place and With Proper Instruments)

Food Should Be Taken in the Appropriate Place and the Utensil Should Be Proper.because Wrong Utensil May Produce Psycological Effects.

(7) Na Atidrutam Asniyat (Not Eating Too Fast)

  • If Food is Consumed Quickly, It Could Be Suffocate the Swallowed Air or Enter Into
  • Wrong Place Like Tracea, Lungs Etc.and Also the Benefits of the Food Are Not Absorbed

(8) Na Ativilambitam Asniyat (Not Eating Slowly)

Eating Very Slowly Leads to Consumption in Large Quantities, Gets Cold, Sometimes It Digest or Sometimes Not Digested.

(9) Ajalpan, Ahasan, Tanmana Bhunjitam (Eating Without Talking or Laughingh, Mindful Eating)

Avoid Talking or Laughing While Having Food Because in Doing So, the Food is Consumed Unmindfully. According to Acharya Charak Even Pathyaahar Consumed is Not Digested Because of Chinta(Anxiety), Shok, Bhaya(Fear), Krodh, Dukh(Sadness) and Improper Sleeping Habits.

(10) Atmana Abhisamikshya Bhunjitam (Eating After Analysing One’s Need)

Be Mindful and Aware of the Constitution of the Food That You Are Having. A Person With This Knowledge Can Identify the Foods That Are Good and Bad for Them.
