In Ayurveda kamala refers to jaundice, a liver disorder caused by severe aggravation of Pitta dosha, often developing from untreated Pandu Roga (anaemia).

It is characterized by yellowish discoloration of the eyes, skin, and urine, alongside weakness and decreased appetite (Aruchi).

Ayurvedic management focuses on Pitta detoxification (Virechana) and herbs to improve liver function.
